Democracy in action . . .
The local paper is planning to rejuvenate the comics page. It’s been soliciting input from readers by providing an illustrated ballot (with sample strips) to choose our favorite current or new comic strips. I hope they expand this exercise in democracy to the editorial page and give us a chance to vote for the syndicated columnist we would prefer to read. If they continue to publish the likes of Maureen Dowd and Paul Krugman of the New York Times, I’m afraid my antacid bill will continue to grow.
